It's Official! PS3 Slim and Price Drop | Breaking News

After months of speculation, internet rumors, and even Publishers threatening to jump ship, Sony has finally dropped the price of its PS3 console. Shaving $100 off the price-tag, the new $299 price, is of course, a welcome piece of news to those that have been waiting to get a PS3.

And to top that with a proverbial cherry, the other rumors of a PS3 redesign are also true. Sony has officially confirmed the PS3 Slim, sizing in 33% smaller, and 36% lighter (and for the green in all of us; uses 34% less power).

The new system sports a 120gb hard drive, but otherwise the same old features as before; which if you don't already have a PS3, I suppose are new features.

Let us know in the comments, is this enough to get you to purchase a PS3 now? With all the great first-party games coming up (Uncharted 2, Heavy Rain) and the current catalog (Killzone 2, Little Big Planet and Metal Gear Solid: 4) my recommendation is a hearty "aye".
