Metro 2033 Release Date Confirmed

It's time once again, to stack yet another potential great game on the list of what appears to be "Game-o-rama 2010". Yes, this is our official title for the fact that, the first three months of 2010 is seeing a plethora of game releases usually reserved for the hot, hot holiday buying season.
THQ's Xbox 360 console-exclusive Metro 2033, will release for the North American public, on March the 16th (March 19th for the European market). Sandwiched between the likes of Battlefield: Bad Company 2, Final Fantasy XIII, and Blur (to name just a few), we kinda hope this one doesn't get lost in the shuffle.

We're a pretty big fan of the pre-order, usually due to all the potential bonus's retailers offer.  In this case, you can pre-order either the Standard or Limited Editions and you'll receive free Metro 2033 themed Avatar items.  Not the greatest of pre-order bonus, but a bonus none-the-less.

Stay tuned to Mashbuttons.com for more coverage of this title as it's released

Box art and screens for Metro 2033

49619_M2033_FOB_R13_HR1s_copy The upcoming title Metro 2033, from THQ, is due out early next year, adding to the number of previously delayed titles, sounds like we’re going to be hibernating this winter.

Set 20 years after an earth-changing event, it’s the year 2033, and you are part of a generation, born and raised after the event, underground and have never seen beyond your Metro station.  I know what you’re thinking, “post-apocalyptic”, “born underground”, near-future”, this sounds a lot like Fallout 3, but I assure you, of nothing, as we haven’t played it.  However, unlike the last few years and the dominating Teen/Vampire theme, I’ll take a poisonous wasteland of turmoil and evil, any day of the week.

Check out the box art and some screens for this upcoming post-apocalyptic shooter.  Full screens can be viewed at our Flickr PageMetro 2033Metro 2033

Marvel Super Hero Squad | Review

Synopsis: THQ has just released Marvel Super Heroes, an action adventure game based on the animated series, on a handful of systems, both console and handheld. In this title, the player is tasked with recovering Fractal fragments of the “Infinity Sword” throughout the city and ultimately to help or destroy the city. There is two available games modes available, adventure mode consists of six campaigns based on the TV series, and battle mode allow four players to fight to their demise. There are more than twenty Marvel characters available in this game, each with their own special powers and abilities to choose from and play as.

Praise: It is Marvel we are talking about here and almost everything they touch turns to gold. You start the game choosing two characters to play through the mission as and since there are a number of characters to choose from, the variety is there to keep you coming back to either master their moves or just to change things up throughout the story. The graphics and gameplay are targeting a younger audience, so it is easy to pick up and play, while the graphics are bright and characters, both playable and not, have the cute look of those in the animated series. The battle mode adds to the replay value when you have played through the story or have a group of people that are up for some arena fighting. Controls are easy to get the hang of, as you use the remote and nunchuk buttons for movement and attacks, and it does use the motion sensors to execute character specific special attacks.

Gripes: The first issue I had with this game from the start and throughout the game was the camera, it never seems to be where you need it, especially when in heated fights and you see you are being shot at but can’t find the enemy to attack due to the camera placement. Enemy AI and the level of ease are the only other issues with this title as I was able to play through without even worrying about dying as health is easily replenished. The problem with the enemy AI is that a number of times, characters of the opposing side, would sit in one place, not moving or attacking at times, while this could be put in place to make the game more playable for a younger audience or a game glitch, it was a little frustrating.

Overall, Marvel Super Hero Squad is an entertaining game to play through for a Marvel fan. However, the main focus of this title is towards a younger audience, which may turn away adult gamers such as myself, but makes for a great game to buy for a child. Since the Wii is an easier console to play with multiple people, this game is good for two people to play through and if you have a group, battle mode is even more fun to play when you have two to four people trying to prove who the better gamer is.

Mashbuttons.com gives Marvel Super Hero Squad a 6 out of 10.

Marvel Super Hero Squad is available now for the Nintendo Wii, DS, Playstation 2, and Playstation Portable.

Guerrilla marketing at its finest

What do you do when you are walking down the street and come across a car
parked on the side of the road that just so happens to have 100 copies of
Red Faction: Guerrilla inside with a sledge hammer chained next to it?
Smash the hell out of it, that's what!

This is exactly what the London public came across in the middle of their
very busy day. A PR stunt by THQ for their recent release, Red Faction:
Guerrilla, which was released on June 5th, encouraged anyone looking to take
out some pent up rage on this poor unsuspecting vehicle to get a copy of
the game on their choice of XBox 360 or Playstation 3 platforms.

Come on THQ, why couldn't we have gotten this opportunity in Arizona, Tempe to be specific? My guess is because it would be harder to get a stunt like
this approved, especially being that it would be "video game induced
violence". We never get to have any fun.

Red Faction: Guerrilla demo hits XBox Live!

Go on Xbox live or PSN, whatever you flavor and start downloading Red Faction: Guerrilla. Why? Because we say so, and the fact that you can roam the sandbox environment which is Mars, destroying virtually anything you want, and the only other demo for download that came out today was a UFC game, I care too little about to remember the title.

The only downsides are no bird hammer, yet, and no multiplayer in the demo. Patience, you birdfuckers. Red Faction: Guerrilla is due to hit store shelves on June 2nd for the XBox 360, PC, and the Playstation 3.

Ostrich Hammer...You have now been bird fucked!

Here comes yet another game for PETA to bring everyone's attention to. Red Faction: Guerrilla has added a new weapon...the ostrich hammer. April fool's joke? I am not so sure. Joystiq has posted the below video, marketing the new weapon.

As a fan of the first Red Faction game, I am increasingly looking forward to Thq's new entry, Guerrilla. Red Faction: Guerrilla is set to release on June 9th, with a demo ready for download on April 23rd.
