Since today is XBLA Wednesday, we have come to expect a new game to add to our libraries. The best part of today's release, is it's a twofer! We've already posted on the rainbow-loving unicorn, ball-dropping awesomeness that is Peggle, earlier today, but does that mean we should neglect the latest from Square Enix? From Xbox Live:
Crystal Defenders is a strategy game in which players deploy jobs from FINAL FANTASY Tactics A2 to fend off encroaching enemy hordes. Players can enjoy over 300 stages of action in one of three different game versions. W1will teach game basics. W2 introduces Power Crystals which allow for deeper, more detailed strategies. The complex maps of W3 will challenge even the most seasoned players.
While we've seen a number of these "build-tower/defend base from waves of attackers" games, a lot of them are of the generic variety. It's nice to see a developer come in and give us a solid strategy title that's easy to pick up and play, but challenging as well. More importantly, wrap that up in a familiar setting with familiar characters.
Like Peggle before it, Crystal Defenders will only set you back 800 points...so a good way to use up a 1600 point card today people. By the way, the title is also available for iPhone 3G/iPod touch for $7.99 through Apple's App Store - if you have to have this title on-the-go.
