Modern Warfare 2 dropping names on November 10, 2009

In a world gone mad with name changes (Bioshock 2, is it, or is it NOT: Sea of Dreams), Infinity Ward and Activision have decided to zig, when others zag. Instead of adding a subtitle, they're just USING the subtitle!

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare was the first in the COD series to be, well modernized. To me, this made the game worth playing - as we've all been 'round the WWII horn a few times before. Well then they followed that up, but taking a step back, thematically at least with the release of Call of Duty 5: World At War.

Being that COD 4 was the juggernaut that it was, they had to do a sequel, but at this point, you surely can't call it Call of Duty 4:2, or Call of Duty 4.2, or even Call of Duty 4 squared. That would just confuse most people, and people might think it suddenly turned into a edutainment title about mathematics.

So they bucked the trend, and dropped the COD altogether, and now we wait for Modern Warfare 2. It's deploying on November 10th, so it will be sandwiched right in there before the holidays, and I'm sure it will sell a boat-load, likely on par with how many sands are on the beach or hairs on your head.
